E-TRAVEL TIPS AND INFORMATION
February 2018
Dear Travel Friends
UPDATED, IMPROVED AND NEW U.S. DEPARTMENT OF STATE TRAVEL ADVISORY WEBSITE
After review and analysis of traveler feedback and input, the U.S. Department of State has launched a completely new and much improved travel advisory program and website.
The website is designed for travelers to better assess international risk levels in foreign countries, before making international travel decisions.
The new travel advisories are less confusing, featuring a simple four level color coded risk and detailed danger assessment, with country specific risk and threat information, all organized alphabetically.
Risk Levels are: Exercise Normal Precautions for Level 1 (Blue), Increased Caution for Level 2 (Yellow), Reconsider Travel for Level 3 (Gold) and Do Not Travel for Level 4 (Red). Additionally, specifics are provided on any country with a Level 2 or higher rating.
Specifics are: Crime, Terrorism, Health, Natural Disaster, Time Limited Event and Other. All specifics are detailed in the website. For more detailed information, we suggest you visit this new Travel Advisory website as an integral part of your research, before finalizing any proposed International travel.
THE BEAUTIFUL STAINED GLASS WINDOWS OF EUROPE
Throughout Europe, incredible stained glass windows, set within cathedral walls, tell stories of the Bible and offer a glimpse into the world of the people who made them.
The play of light on these windows create as much a work of art as the windows themselves. A holy place with sunlight shining through a stained glass window is both illuminating and beautiful. The beautiful stained glass windows in Europe tell stories, educate and inspire.
The ancient method of melting sand, potash and lime together to make glass and coloring it with the addition of metallic oxides has hardly changed. Intricate details were painted and fired onto the colored stained glass. The many colored glass pieces were crafted into the stained glass window and arranged to form complex patterns and pictures, held together by strips of lead and supported by rigid frames. See our pictures of some of the wonderful stained glass window art Gillian and Bob have experienced on our travels through Europe. Read more about Glass Art.
