OFF THE BEATEN TRACK IN TUSCANY, ITALY
What an amazing week in Tuscany, experiencing Italian culture, savoring their cuisine and yet far from the typical Italian tourist stops. We flew into Florence, rented a car and drove south, exploring the beautiful Tuscany countryside and interacting with locals, wherever we went.
Our first stop was a small organic farm B&B located off a dirt road in the Chianti countryside, just outside Greve and owned by a wonderful lady, Francesca. We enjoyed a romantic dinner, under the Tuscan moonlight, on the patio of Francesca's restaurant with not a tourist in sight. A delicious, relaxed and unhurried, five course meal was served with fresh organic fruits and vegetables, homemade pasta and delicious Chianti Classico wines from local wineries.
We then moved on to the medieval village of Monticchiello where we stayed in our own "little castle", located inside one of the towers in the ancient city wall. Our host Daria, grew up there and was a fabulous source of local community information. Her restaurant, overlooking some of the most beautiful Tuscan scenery, served an amazing traditional meal accompanied by incredible Brunello wines and another gorgeous sunset.
We explored wineries, hiked through lush vineyards and olive groves leading to tiny medieval villages such as Panzano, Radda, Castiglione D'Orcia, Mentefioralle, Montefollonico and the famous Bagno Vignoni baths. We explored quiet villages and beautiful churches, went back in time discovering hidden staircases and ancient stone pathways that curved around corners and through amazing medieval architecture.
A highlight of our trip was a visit to Volpaia where a delicious cup of cappuccino in the main square, surrounded by locals and stunning views was followed by an amazing wine tasting and traditional vintners making wine. We were also lucky to see the Pienza Cheese Festival, where teams compete against each other in a cheese rolling competition. Later, we were invited to share an entertaining meal with local residents at a community table restaurant in Montepulciano, even though we don't speak a word of Italian!
Pitigliano, a small city that literally appears to be crafted from the rock cliff was probably one of the most picturesque places we have ever visited. We explored the local Italian Rivera including Porto Ercole and Ansedonia and our adventure concluded with a visit to the bustling Saturday morning market in Greve . We took hundreds of pictures of our incredible Tuscan vacation and have attached some to share.

FINDING CHEAP AIRFARES - A THING OF THE PAST!
There used to be ways to find and pay less for an airline ticket. Book well in advance. Stay over a Saturday night. Pick a low-cost airline. The airlines have made sure those days are long-gone. Their setting airfare prices today is so incredibly complex that to most consumers, it cannot make sense. Should you be lucky enough to find a cheap seat, do not hesitate, buy it immediately. Going back to find your hidden treasure has almost zero chance of being repeated. The most common sense rules of airline ticket pricing like routing, flight distance, one way or round trip - no longer apply. Even more confusing is why and how certain flights even show up on travel search engines. Because it is now increasingly more difficult to tell what your flight options are, much less which flights are cheaper, use a professional travel agent to arrange your future travel and save $'s as well as your valuable time.
