SOME INTERESTING 2019 AIRLINE REVENUE STATISTICS
According to a report released by the Airlines Reporting Corp. (ARC), US travel agencies achieved record sales for airline tickets in 2019, collectively valued at nearly $97.4 billion, an increase of about 2.8% compared to 2018.
Even though air ticket sales by travel agents are at a record high, and because travel agents are basically paid nothing for their services to the airlines, travel agencies must charge ticket fees to consumers or work for free.
The report also tracked Electronic Miscellaneous Document (EMD) sales, the sales of ancillary miscellaneous services, like premium seating and other services used for travel, but sold separately from the airline ticket. EMD sales in 2019 increased by 8% to $84.6 million.

TRAVEL AND YOUR PLANT BASED DIET
Your plant-based diet can be more challenging on the road, a plane, a train, away from home or traveling. Finding healthy, plant based foods when dining out, traveling, when in remote locations or in meat-loving cultures and regions, can be difficult .
Gillian and Bob made the change to a plant based diet about a year ago. Even though we are new at it, the good news is that plant based eating is growing worldwide, vegan options are increasingly more widely available in the US, and some cultures eat traditionally more plant-friendly foods.
We were impressed at how plant based foods were readily available, on a recent trip to our homeland, meat loving South Africa!
