- Unaccompanied minors or "UM's" are treated as adult passengers and guardians are asked to agree airlines are not responsible for their UM's, during their flights.
- Airlines require guardians complete all requested information pertaining to their UM's.
- Airlines charge $75 to $150 per one-way flight for UM services.
- UM age requirements are five to fifteen years old and airlines have different age restrictions on connecting flights for UM's.
- Research varying airline charges and policies for two or more UM's traveling together.
- Don't join regular check-in lines as most airports have sign posted special assistance areas for UM check-in.
- All UM drop-off, and pick-up information must be given to airline personnel, before boarding.
- Guardians must remain in contact with airline personnel until advised their UM is safely on-board and their aircraft has taken off.
- Airlines provide UM's with ID so they can be properly identified by all contact airline personnel.
- Airline personnel accompany UM's through airport security, to the gate and safely on-board the aircraft.
- In-flight, UM's are supervised by the flight crew.
- On arrival at their destination, UM's are handed over to airport airline personnel, escorted to the arrivals area and released to their meeting party, after proper ID verification.
