BARTERING IN FOREIGN COUNTRIES
- While we normally don't barter in the US, but it's a normal way of doing business in markets and bazaars around the world. Bartering can be fun but one can easily be pressured into buying something immediately by professional barterers who literally can sell you ice in winter.
- Barterers know you are a tourist when they see you, so beware.
- Don't buy until you know a fair price for a wanted item and know prices can vary greatly from store to store.
- Because the same items are almost always on sale in other competitive stores in the market or bazaar, price, shop before you buy. Note stores and prices and when you have a price you are comfortable paying for the item, go to the store and you can barter fairly and effectively.
