TRAVEL GUIDEBOOK GUIDELINES
Using a good guidebook while traveling is a great idea but a guidebook doesn't substitute for the knowledge and experience of a good travel agent's help in planning your vacation.
Using a good guidebook while traveling is a great idea but a guidebook doesn't substitute for the knowledge and experience of a good travel agent's help in planning your vacation.
- A guidebook could be invaluable to find places of interest, good hotels and restaurants, how to get around, local customs, culture and more useful information.
- Don't use an older guidebook for research. Guidebook information is updated on an ongoing basis. The year the guidebook was published should be printed in the front of the book, so check you are reading the latest edition.
- Study a guidebook before you buy it. Research authors and their travel experience. Your guidebook should be informative, reliable, understandable, up-to-date and easy to read.
- Spend more on several good guidebooks for each country you intend visiting, rather than buying one guidebook covering several countries.
- Remove guidebook pages for destinations you'll be visiting and keep them separated for quick reference use when traveling and needed. Help other tourists and leave your destination information with hotel reception to pass-on.
