KEEP YOUR SHOES ON!

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is looking into removing one of the biggest hassles to travellers in present day airport security: having to remove your shoes at a security checkpoint. Numerous companies offer shoe scanning machines, designed to find metal weapons and explosives hidden in shoes. A few years ago shoe scanners didn't pass TSA tests, but the latest scanner technology promises better results. The TSA says shoe scanners that do the job properly will improve security, help checkpoints run more smoothly and allow officers to focus on other aspects of airline security. The agency is reviewing products offered by shoe scanner suppliers and plans to use the devices by next year. Click here for more information.

WHAT ARE A FEW EXTRA INCHES OF LEGROOM WORTH?
Continental Airlines has started offering exta legroom...at a price! The amount of legroom, from 7 to 10 inches, can vary by aircraft, seat prices, flight length, aircraft, season and market. Continental says customers want more choices, based on customer feedback, which indicated economy passengers valued extra legroom enough, to pay a little extra for it. Continental says seats with additional legroom are higher-value seats, and they want to offer them to customers who recognize that value. United Airlines, Jetblue and US Airways already charge for extra legroom. Extra legroom on Continental will be up for grabs for economy-class customers, starting March 17, for about $59.00 per seat. Stay the honeymoon suite, order room service and have breakfast in bed, treat yourselves to dinners out and indulge in couples spa treatments. Just being together and out of your regular routine, is sure to make your "babymoon" a very special break. Schedule more downtime than normal to rest.
