COMING HOME

Be aware of customs regulations
In general, people returning to the U.S. are allowed to bring $400 per person worth of duty-free merchandise back into the country. The following $1000 worth of goods will be taxed at 10%.

Also keep this in mind, in addition to regulations which prohibit you from bringing perishables and other such items into the country, the U.S. has a ban on ivory and other items.

Countries such as Turkey and Egypt won't let you take what they consider to be "precious artifacts" out of their country.

If you have any questions at all about a purchase, ask your Tour Director for advice.

Bartering overseas
While you would never consider bartering in Bloomindales, it's a way of doing business in markets and bazaars around the world. The best rule of thumb is: don't but until you know the fair price of an item. You can find out by looking in stores or by asking your Tour Director or hotel staff. Once you have a price in mind, you can then barter fairly and effectively.
