BEFORE YOU GO

Carry Extra copies of your travel documents.
When traveling overseas, your most precious possession is your passport. So it's wise to make an extra copy of the first two pages containing your passport number and photo, and carry them separately from your passport. Other travel documents to copy include visas, records of inoculations, and tickets.

Leave copies of documents and your itinerary at home.
Sometimes it's easier to have someone at home help to replace lost documents than it is to try and do it overseas. So make sure to leave copies of your itinerary, passport, and visa with a relative or friend, along with your credit card numbers and travel insurance information.
